About the Conference Venue

All conference events will be held on the campus of Ewha Womans University located in the Seodaemun district of Seoul, South Korea.

Ewha Womans University (Korean: 이화여자대학교; Hanja: 梨花女子大學校) is a private women's research university founded in 1886. Currently, the University is one of the world's largest female educational institutes and one of the most prestigious universities in South Korea. It is also the only university in South Korea that has a partnership with Harvard University in the U.S. We at GASI are excited to build upon the longstanding relationship between Ewha and GASI Founder, Dr. Chang Shub Roh, who began a Sociology and Social Work program there six decades ago. Want to learn more about Ewha Womans University?

GASI is grateful to our colleagues in Global Awareness Society Korea (GASK) for their efforts in organizing this conference at Ewha Womans University!

Conference sessions will be held in the Ewha Campus Complex (ECC), a 6-level structure designed by Dominique Perrault following an international design  competition. The building is designed like a boulevard that starts from the entry point of Ewha Square with a beautiful rooftop garden above the state of the art meeting facilities.

For attendees wishing to stay on the Ewha campus, a limited number of dormitory rooms (single or double with ensuite bathrooms) will be available ranging in price from $22 - $40 USD per person per night.

GASI Conference Scholarships & Grants

A limited number of travel grants of up to $1,000 USD are available on a competitive basis for students and faculty members.

Student Travel Scholarships

To qualify you must be:

  1. Currently enrolled as a student at the time of application, and

  2. Enrolled full-time if you are an undergraduate student or at least part-time if you are a graduate student.

Student status will be verified before awards are granted. Travel awards granted for abstracts with multiple student authors will be shared by all students who present at the conference. Students submitting abstracts co-authored by faculty members (professors) must present solely at the conference. Preference will be given to first-time Scholarship recipients and to students submitting an abstract as sole author (versus abstracts with multiple authors) and to applications received by the original abstract submission deadline of October 15.

Faculty Travel Grants

Two travel grants are available on a competitive basis for full-time faculty members who are presenting at GASI for the first time. Faculty must be first author on the abstract (i.e., the lead conference presenter) to qualify. Preference will be given to applications received by the original abstract submission deadline of October 15.
